Warren G. Harding (Getting to Know the Us Presidents)
Otter LOVES these books written and illustrated by Mike Venezia. Even my big kids read them all as older teens because the information is presented in such an engaging and easy to retain style.
All of the Venezia books I schedule in are optional for the president's study, but they are so fun, you might want to check out at least a few. Most libraries will have these books, so you probably won't need to purchase any.

Charles Lindbergh, Graphic Biography
You can download some free samples of Saddleback graphic novels, if you’d like to get an idea of what the Lindbergh book is like. I’ve sprinkled in some graphic novels this year because I believe kids love comic style books and visual learners will benefit greatly from all of the pictures related to the text. My main goal is to get things to STICK. I think a variety of book styles and materials help this goal to be attained.

Babe Ruth: One of Baseball’s Greatest (boy)
This is a great series of books. I haven't read this particular one (we aren't baseball fans), but both Otter and I have read through others in the series. They make great readers with non-overwhelming chapters and simple black and white illustrations. |
