BBC
Science Clips These high quality, fun "clips" teach and / or
reinforce science concepts through interactive means. They are designed for ages
5-11. My son had a great time just exploring some of the concepts and taking quizzes
afterwards. One he particularly liked teaches about the sun,
earth and moon.
Bottle
Biology "Learn how to explore science and the environment with soda
bottles and other recyclable materials. Create Decomposition Columns to Bottle
Gardens." Cathy
Duffy Science Curriculum Reviews If you want to find out about a particular
curriculum, Cathy Duffy has written some really meaty reviews -check them out.
Dolphin
Man Worksheets Click on the categories (sea mammals, ponds & streams,
the sea) and get the free worksheets. The free worksheets all have watermarks,
but who cares? These are great!
Krampf
Science Experiments You can sign up to be a member of the Yahoo group
or simply read the archived science experiments. These are pretty fun and usually
use easily obtainable household materials. Online
Bug Guide Not sure what sort of bug that is that just crawled across your
floor? You can look it up on the bug guide. We've found out about a lot of local
critters on this nifty site! Rainbird
Rainforest Curriculum Rainforest teaching modules for grades K-12.
Science
Toys "Make toys at home with common household materials, often in
only a few minutes, that demonstrate fascinating scientific principles. "
We loved this site so much we bought the book "Gonzo Gizmos".
Scripture
and Science for Kids Here you will find lots of easy to understand articles
for elementary age students on science and creationism. "Discovery is
a colorful monthly magazine on Scripture and science for kids. Our aim is to show
children that Christians have good reasons for believing what they do. Discovery
encourages kids to develop a faith that is motivated by a genuine love for God
and which is, at the same time, supported by evidences for that faith."
Skool.co.uk Wow!
Wow! WOW! This is a super resource for "older learners" (upper elementary
and beyond -ages 12 to 16 according to the site). There are numerous math and
science modules for students to learn and interact with. Interactive lessons have
graphics, audio, reviews, tests and activities that help to cement learning. You
can even download a special browser so that you can do activities offline. Click
one of the "channels" from the main page and then navigate to the different
sections (Key stage 3 or 4). I am very impressed that the U.K. has such a high
quality free resource for students. *Warning: the biology section contains lessons
/ information on reproduction and sexual intercourse.
Steve
Spangler Science Experiments Free science experiments -many with videos!
You have GOT to try out the one using Mentos!
The
Elements If you
are studying chemistry, you've GOT to stop by this site. You'll get to watch a
humorous movie while listening to Tom Lehrer's "The Elements" song.
What's
That Bug? Another site to identify your local creepy crawlies. What's
This Caterpillar? We found a caterpillar on our tomatoes and the kids
decided to raise it. This site helped us to identify just what kind he was! ******************************* The
Internet changes daily so you never know if a site that is here today might be
"gone" tomorrow. We suggest you save materials you want to use in the
future to your hard drive (if
it doesn't interfere with the copyright). Also, we can't predict what might change
on a site or what advertising might be present. Surf at your own risk! Please
report any bad links to me (or inappropriate materials
and / or advertising)! P.S.
Some of the links have stuff that is good, fun, informative, etc. for mom too,
not just the kids! |
