Book Review of Come Winter by Clare Gutierrez

Come Winter book review

One look at the beautiful cover on Come Winter and I was dying to get my hands on it and read it. I love the snowy setting and that mysterious, cold castle in the background. Come Winter looks like a book right up my alley. I gave it to my 2nd reviewer as I was a bit short on time, and this is what she wrote about it:

"Although Come Winter was somewhat "entertaining", it lacked depth and credibility. The heroine in the story was too perfect and everyone who saw her became enamored of her personality, beauty and skills. She was kidnapped, escaped, re-captured, rescued, forced to marry (always to a gruff Lord or King with an anger issues who quickly came to love her). She was forced to marry 3 times, and each time she escaped, was re-captured and then quickly came to love her captor...once to a Lord and twice to a king, making her a queen. Her first 2 husbands were killed, and it was really a stretch to believe she could find herself falling in love with the one who killed her second husband as he took the kingdom away from him! Very far fetched, but as I stated, it was somewhat entertaining - a typical fairy tale romance set in medieval times with a happy ending."

Ok, so it sounds like Come Winter is one of those mind-candy books that doesn't necessarily carry the depth that intriguing cover promises. I'll post more as soon as I've read it myself and we'll see if we agree on this one or not, lol. It got a lot of 4 and 5 star reviews on Amazon, so now I want to see what I think!
