ONLINE Alternative to Lab IV-1:
*The alternative lab is linked below in the yellow. It is both an alternative lab AND an online lab - hence the green and yellow coloring of this table cell.

Alternative online video lab: AP Photosynthesis Lab

As the chloroplasts absorb light they produce oxygen bubbles which eventually cause the leaves to float. You can reproduce this lab at home using:

  • spinach leaves
  • syringe
  • distilled water
  • baking soda
  • source of light (natural or artificial)
  • timer
  • paper hole punch

Other (hands-on) Alternate to Lab IV-1:
Photosynthesis in Elodea

  • Sprig of Elodea
  • Distilled Water w /Baking Soda
  • Graduated Cylinder or Test Tube
  • Timer or Watch
  • 60 watt light

Optional online lab: Carbon Transfer Through Snails and Elodea

*Note: Do a Google search for : Carbon Transfer Through Snails and Elodea. Several sites have the answers to this lab.

FREE online lab (You must download it for it to work): Leaf Photosynthesis
